Meta Celebrates Sustainable Fishing with "A MARE NOSTRUM"

On August 29 and 30, 2026, Marina di Meta will host the event "A MARE NOSTRUM - Tradition, Artisanal Fishing, and Sustainability," dedicated to promoting marine resources and local seafaring culture.

The initiative kicks off on both mornings (at 9:00 AM) on the "Amici del Mare" beach area with live demonstrations of sustainable fishing aboard traditional Sorrento gozzi and wooden boats (lance).

On August 30, starting at 7:00 PM at Lido Marinella, the event heats up with an institutional and expert panel discussion on marine protection. Speakers will include representatives from the Municipality of Meta, the Castellammare di Stabia Coast Guard, industry experts, nutritionists, and the "Punta Campanella" Marine Protected Area.

Following the panel, Chef Ciro Sicignano will lead a seafood masterclass and show cooking featuring sustainably caught fresh fish. The prepared dish will be offered free of charge to all attendees, concluding the evening with live musical entertainment. Throughout the event, visitors can also explore an exhibition of historical boats and traditional fishing gear.
